Arizona Nurse Education Investment Pilot Program

Program Description

The Arizona Nurse Education Investment Pilot Program is administered by ADHS with the goal to increase capacity of nursing education programs in the state. This increased capacity includes nursing assistants (NA), licensed practical nurses (LPN), registered nurses (RN), and advanced practice registered nurses (APRN). The funds go directly to universities and community colleges. These funds can be used for faculty costs and capital.

Program Goals and Impacts

The goal of this program is to advance the capacity of nursing education programs to increase the number of LPNs, RNs, NAs, and APRNs entering the Arizona workforce.

Funding Information

This program entails $15 million administered by the Arizona Department of Health Services each fiscal year from 2022 through 2027.

Program Sustainability 

To attain sustainability planned post-grant internal resources in education facilities and healthcare organizations will be needed to continue to prepare sufficient students to enter the workforce as well as organizational funding and commitment to post-graduation transition and residency programs.

Challenges to sustainability may include:

Sufficient nursing faculty.

Adequate clinical site.

Student recruitment.

Physical space.

Trained nurse mentors at clinical sites.
