State of Arizona Grant Program for Preceptors of Healthcare Graduate Students
Description
The purpose of this program is to recognize the valuable contributions of preceptors and to enhance their ability to provide quality mentorship and guidance to aspiring healthcare professionals. In 2022, in an effort to address some of the healthcare workforce shortages in Arizona, House Bill 2691 was passed. This bill appropriated state general funds to the five largest statewide nonprofit organizations that represent allopathic physicians, osteopathic physicians, advanced practice registered nurses, physician assistants, and dentists.
Program Goals
The goal is to encourage and support more preceptorships for the training and development of graduate students, which furthers the mission to empower preceptors.
Eligibility
Allopathic physicians, osteopathic physicians, certified nurse midwives, certified registered nurse anesthetists, clinical nurse specialists, registered nurse practitioners, physician assistants, or dentists who are licensed pursuant to Arizona Revised Statutes, Title 32 and who serve as volunteer preceptors for a minimum of 4 weeks, may apply for grants from the statewide nonprofit organization that represents their discipline and is allocated grant monies.
