Statewide Registered Nurse Transition to Practice Program
Program Description
The Statewide RN Transition to Practice Program provides support for new graduate nurses and their preceptors for one year. This program has been shown to signifcantly reduce turnover rates for new graduate RNs. Hospitals may apply for the grant and priority is given to critical access hospitals and counties with less than 500,000 population.
Program Goals and Impacts
The Statewide RN Transition to Practice Program goal is to provide support for new nurse graduates and decrease the turnover rates within hospitals for new RNs. An impact of this program is a reduction in new nurse turnover rates.
Funding Information
This program entails $2 million per fiscal year for three years administered by The Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System (AHCCCS). The program runs from fiscal year 2022/2023 through 2026/2027.

To attain sustainability continue to increase the capacity of nursing education programs and organizations to work collaboratively providing preceptor programs for all levels of nurses.
